CLASSICAL PILATES IS…

….a method of exercise created by Joseph Pilates in the 1930s in NYC that focuses on the art of control, “Contrology”, and precise movements. There is an order to the exercises that delivers flexion, extension, and rotational movements in sequences that make the most sense for the body to perform effectively. The exercises can be performed on the Mat, Reformer, Tower, Cadillac, Chair and other pieces of equipment.

It delivers low impact workouts designed to:

  • Increase muscle strength and tone, particularly of the abdominal muscles

  • Improve concentration, alignment, posture, balance and flexibility

  • Create awareness with a mind/body connection

  • Develop all muscle groups uniformly

  • Connect breath to movement

  • Rehabilitate or prevent injuries related to muscle imbalances

  • Promote a long and lean appearance
